Mold and Health Problems
Mold can cause or contribute to a large number of health problems. Over the past decade, there have been hundreds of published research documents outlining the different health problems that can result from moisture and mold. Some of the most important and mainstream of those documents can be found on our wiki in the mold and health problems section.
Don’t wait. If you believe that you or a loved one may be experiencing mold related health problems, it’s time to contact a professional. Why risk your health?
Our clients often ask us: “what are the symptoms of mold exposure”?
Molds cause health effects via inflammation, allergy, and/or infection. The most common effect is allergic reactions following exposure to mold. Typical symptoms of exposure to mold (alone or in some combination) include:
- Nasal and sinus congestion
- Respiratory problems, such as wheezing, difficulty breathing, and shortness of breath
- Eye irritation (burning, watery, or reddened eyes)
- Nose or throat irritation
- Skin rashes or irritations
- Dry, hacking cough
- Headaches, memory problems, mood swings, nosebleeds, body aches and pains, and fevers are occasionally reported in mold cases.
In the pediatric population, as many as 10% of children and 20% to 30% of adolescents have allergic rhinitis, and the prevalence is increasing. The most common adverse health effect associated with mold exposure is allergic rhinitis. -2006 American Academy of Pediatrics
